This book was great. Five stars. I recently finished this book, as in Wednesday. It was very nostalgic and reminded me of fantasy stories I read as a kid. Based on Welsh mythology and folkore, The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones was gripping, easy read with fantastic characters, a great romance, and an undead goat. Additionally, it has great representation (in my opinion) of chronic pain. I have an old injury that has been plaguing me for years and that’s represented beautifully in this work.

Amber & Dusk by Lyra Selene - The Literary Phoenix

Amber and Dusk by Lyra Selene is the LAST book on my May TBR and it will be book number 8 this month. Its been a great reading month overall. I really hope this book lives up to the rest of the books this month. Sylvie has always thought she deserved more than what her life in the Dusklands has to offer. Her guardians believer her ability to conjure illusions is a curse and not a blessing, but Sylvie disagrees. She sets out for the palais at Coeur d’Or, the home of the Amber Empress. Promising to be full of palace intrigue, I’m looking forward to wrapping this month up with a good read. It has 3.57 stars on GoodReads.

F – Favorite Quote of the day/week

“And sometimes, you are going to be/ as fierce as a dragon/ armed in scales of impenetrable gold/ and sometimes you are going to be/ as vulnerable as a lamb,/ soft and comforting in newborn wool./ Both versions of you deserve to be loved./ Both versions of you are needed./ Both versions of you are beautiful.” – Dragon & Lamb by Nikita Gill.

I have been having the WORST week, but this made me feel moderately better.

F – Five things you’re happy or grateful for this week.

  1. My wonderful fiance. This man has been my rock. Providing me with copious amounts of wine, coffee, and cuddles through an anxiety inducing week that broke me down to the core and exhausted me. His patience and understanding ave been necessary.
  2. My fantastic friends. Kim, Amanda, Julia, Talyn. These women have made my life infinitely better. I would not be the same person without them. Thank you so much ladies
  3. Coffee. Coffee has quite literally made this week bearable at work.
  4. Books. It has given me an escape that I desperately needed.
  5. My sisters. I have three beautiful and talented sisters who make me strive to be a better person. Fi-monster, See-Me, and Bear this is for you my loves.

Thanks for stopping by! Please let me know if you did this meme. I would love to stop by and read your news. Stay tuned for more great stuff in the next few weeks, including my June TBR. If you’re impatient, you can alway go check out my YouTube.
